Our people are the foundation of our success – a philosophy that goes back to Delta’s first CEO, C.E. Woolman. That’s why we’re proud to have been consistently named a Great Place to Work by Fortune and Glassdoor.com. Delta also is rated a top 10 place for women to work by Fortune Magazine, while the Human Rights Campaign named us one of the best places to work for LGBT equality, scoring 100% on the Corporate Equality Index in 2018. True to that philosophy, our people share in our success: Over the last 5 years, we’ve shared more than $5.5 billion in profits with our employees and have raised pay by 25% since 2015.
Giving back has been at the heart of Delta for more than 75 years. Today, Delta returns 1 percent of its net income back to the communities where we work, live and serve, supporting a wide range of organizations and causes through three pillars of community support: Advancing Education, Improving Global Health & Wellness, and Saluting Armed Service Members and Veterans. Delta is the largest corporate donor of blood to the American Red Cross, a partnership that began during World War II. We’ve built over 25 playgrounds across 13 U.S. cities through a partnership with KaBOOM! in just five years. Our employees devote countless hours supporting and volunteering at food banks and community kitchens. Delta also supports local Pride events and parades across the country. And we have helped build or rehab 259 homes in 12 countries across the globe through our 15+ year partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Each year, more than 2,500 employees volunteer their time to help build safe, decent and affordable homes in the U.S. and around the world.
Delta’s commitment to our troops is part of our history, and it’s why active duty members of U.S. armed forces are given priority boarding on every Delta flight. Delta also honors our dedicated Armed Service Members and Veterans through national sponsorships and employee engagement. Delta proudly supports Fisher House Foundation, Luke’s Wings, the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, Marine Toys for Tots and the USO to name a few. Each November, Delta supports veterans, active service members and their families by matching customer-donated miles to Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles Program and Luke’s Wings. Last year, Delta and its customers donated 10.4 million miles to these two organizations. The miles provide air travel to wounded, injured or ill service members, veterans and their families. Fisher House Foundation and Luke’s Wings consistently rank in the top tier of customer mileage donations.
